"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded."

I said I "would" wash the dishes! Which would seem to indicate an extenuating circumstance exists/existed, spoken or not. What I really meant was, I "would" wash the dishes, if only I could get off of this couch, which, apparently, I have not. So, in essence, I didn't "misspeak" or "lie" per se, but merely, did not complete my sentence! But I did subliminally indicate said extenuating circumstance, which I eventually failed to meet, since I am apparently still sitting here!
